Understanding the 'his/her' sound


For 'his' and 'her', the added sound is usually w-.

However, if the w- comes before a consonant, it is pronounced (and spelled) ug-.

Try saying wpaqam (especially with that noticeable "stopped" sound) and you'll see how ugpaqam is a much easier and more natural way to get the sound across.
